GENERAL

Main products: Sawn wood.

Natural attributes - structure - origins: Light wood (416 kg/m³) whitish to pale pinkish-brown, straight grain with fine texture (fine-pored) and uniform (no significant difference between early and late wood).

Natural durability in time: Not durable. Logs can be attacked by the longhorn beetle and sapwood by the common furniture beetle.

Mechanical attributes: Wood soft and light with very low mechanical durability in all categories.

Density:  R (12-15%) = 0,41 gr/cm³

PROPERTIES AND PROCESSING OPERATIONS WOOD

Drying behavior and stability after drying: Dries fairly rapidly with little distortion or deterioration and considerable dimensional variability in applications.

Impregnation behavior: Permeable.

Bending behavior: Poor during steam bending.

Working properties - tool blunting: Extremely easy machinery and hand tools processing, with low resistance to cutting and low tool blunting.

Νailing and screwing: Good.

Gluing behavior: Good.

Behavior in the dyeing and finishing: Good paint, good finish.

APPLICATIONS

Woodcarving, turnery, frames, maquettes, cooperage, high quality carpentry, piano keys, beehives, toys, small laminated construction, plywood, boxes, chests, food packaging (odorless).
