GENERAL

Main products: Sawn wood, veneer.

Natural attributes - structure - origins: Heavy wood (580-770 kg/m³), with heartwood of medium to dark red brown color with visible pinstripes from gum or resin. Interlocked grain wood with almost rough texture. The heartwood may be fragile. Grows in regions of Malaya, Sarawak, Indonesia, Sabah, Indonesia.

Natural durability in time: All types of wood are either durable or moderately durable. The sapwood can be attacked by the insect Lyctus.

Mechanical attributes: Wood of moderate flexural and crushing strength, with low modulus of elasticity and resistance to shock loads.

Density: R (12-15%) = 0.67 g/cm³

Modulus of elasticity: 11.400 N/mm²

Breaking measure: 92 N/mm²

WOOD PROPERTIES AND PROCESSING OPERATIONS

Drying behavior and stability after drying: Slower drying than Light Meranti, prone to deterioration, cracks and of moderate flexural and crushing strength, with low modulus of elasticity and resistance to shock loads.

Impregnation behavior: All types of wood are from moderately to extremely resistant to hydrostatic impregnation.

Bending behavior: Poor flexural behavior when steam bending.

Working properties - tool blunting: Works well with hand tools and machinery. Only causes slight cutting edge dulling. A wooly surface is created when wood is cut.

Νailing and screwing: Good nailing and screwing.

Gluing behavior: Glues well

Dyeing and finishing: Good paint, good finish.

APPLICATIONS

Indoor and outdoor carpentry constructions, shop equipment, shipbuilding, floors. When infused it is used in outdoor walls. Plywood, decorative veneer.
